Flow Cytometry Analysis: Linux/Unix - (Jun/30/2005 )

Hi everyone. I am wondering if anyone out there knows of any Open Source flow cytometry analysis software. All I have been able to find is WEASEL which is okay. Any suggestions?

Have you tried WinMDI ? There's a free downloadable version on the net.
Its pretty good.

I haven't found anything better. However, I encourage you to stick with WEASEL. After a little bit of messing around/practise, I find it very efficient.
The main trick is to make sure that your fcs files are consecutively numbered (ie foo_001.fcs, foo_002.fcs). You can then zip through an entire stack of files either in one window or by cloning the window.

I have a perl script that does this for each experiment I export from our instrument.

Alternatively, if you need to extract data on each event, there are scripts around for this purpose. I've cobbled together one for FCS3.0, but I'm sure you can find better.

in my opinion, WinMDI is a heinous mess and is best avoided.

don't treat WinMDI in this manner!
it's a very easy but complete software which is very useful when we can't pay for CellQuest...

furthemore WinMDI on a Windows XP system is more stable than older versions of OpenOffice on Linux biggrin.gif

Mozilla warns of false security certificate.

Is it ok to add to exception?

Yes, it's OK. But I would warn you:
as it is just-started open source project it's more for development not for routine analysis at the moment.

Thx for the warning googenot.
