Bioinformatics Future Contributions - (May/10/2005 )

Hi all,

With all the hype in the popular press about bioinformatics, I'm interested in what scientists have to say.

What area of bioinformatics do you envision will make the most important contribution in the next 5, 10 and 25 years?

I will leave it as open as possible inorder not to bias any opinions.

Thanks

Bioinformatics is just a tool and won't make any breakthrough by itself. My vision is that every biology process such as epigenetics, gene regulation is determined by code or sequence. I hope that one day bioinformatics will help decode it.

I think bioinformatics is helping to decode information right now, although we are far from cracking the complete code.

Bioinformatics certainly helps and enriches data obtain within the Lab. I started in the period before the Bioinformatics explosion and I have to say the field has certainly made a very big splash in biology and molecular medicine.
