Buffering systems - need ideas - (Apr/07/2005 )

Hello everybody,

When i use HEPES as the buffering system, does it affect my cells negatively if i incubate them in a CO2 gas incubator? This buffering system does not need CO2 gas for buffering.

As far as I know, HEPES just slows down changes in pH--it's useful to prevent big pH shifts when you are manipulating your CO2 buffered cultures outside of the incubator.
