Using Glycogen as a carrier in DNA Extraction - Low DNA Extraction (Mar/22/2005 )

I am trying to extract DNA from samples that have a low amount of cells present, and have read in protocols to add glycogen, LPA, tRNA, etc, to improve yields. How exactly does glycogen work as a carrier in DNA precipitation to give greater yields?

Many thanks

I'm not 100% sure, guess it binds to the DNA present?
