AB resistance gene - Which antibiotic resistance gene in my vector ? (Feb/07/2005 )

Can you please tell me if it is possible to know which antibiotic resistance genes are present on my Vector? I know the sequence of the vector. But there is no growth on ampicillin+ plates. PLease help asap.

may you give us more about your vector ? (seauence / name / ...)

If you know the sequence, run it through the blastX program (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/BLAST/ - this online program translates nucletoide to amino acids and compares to known proteins) you should get homologs to whatever protein is present there.
