DMEM Medium - suspension culture/adherent culture (Jan/13/2009 )

hi
i wanted to know that can we grow suspension culture of CHO cells in DMEM medium. i have heard that DMEM is used for adherent culture ?

I have read in literature that it is the absence of serum that causes adherent cells to detach and become suspension. I've personally used chemically-defined media from various places, such as Invitrogen (GIBCO), Sigma-Aldrich, etc.
