DNA replication - speed of leading and lagging strand polymerases? - (Jan/08/2009 )

I know that the replisome moves in one direction for both the leading and lagging strand replication. However, because the polymerase must let go after the completion of each Okazaki fragment, doesn't that mean the lagging strand replication will be somewhat slower than the leading strand before it catches up or perhaps the leading strand polymerase will slow down after awhile (since both polymerases are attached to the same replisome)?? I am having trouble finding papers on this topic. Do have any information? Please help!

hi, it is one possibility but it may be possible that there are more than one ribosome units for polymerization of the okazaki fragment which help to maintain the speed of the replication of both leading n lagging strand
