CMV promoter? - (Jan/06/2009 )
I am trying to purchase a cdna clone from OriGene and it comes in a plasmid with a CMV promoter, what exactly is that. Is it difficult to take the ORF and transform this into another plasmid with HIS-tag like pET-15b? Does anyone have a good protocol for this? Thanks

The CytoMegalovirus promoter is a strong viral promoter used in mamalian expression vectors. You could transfer your ORF to any other plasmid by planning primers for pcr with 5' restriction sites.
