need an example of a gene with a drug target.... - (Dec/02/2008 )
hi all,
my question is a little more in depth that the title suggests; i was wondering if anyone has information regarding the discovery of a gene that was found to be up- or down-regulated in a disease process and then a drug was made to target that gene and thus regulate the disease process....
any help?
thanks!

One that comes to mind is imatinib (Gleevec) - it inhibits the activity of bcr-abl tyrosine kinase fusion protein found only in Ph+ CML cells.
