I've just turned down a potential job proposition that would make me earn seven times more than my current student salary.
Am I dumb or desperate or I just like research...
Had anyone such experience?

I too sometime when feeling down remember some other PhD progs I rejected. 
If U can reapply . . U should go for it. . but if not. . just forget it. . go out. . eat an icecream . . and forget the wholething.

Real job, it's like... you have to be punctual, dress in uniforms and lie all the time, which is called marketing. Which is at the same time annoying and stressing, because I am a really poor liar. And you can't be really on your own and it's boring. And you deal with stupid people all the time and it stresses you a lot. No, I don't regret it

But there was money. But such job is not secure I guess.If you turned down a job proposition including "marketing" and those other horrible words, then your not an idiot. Marketing is not a proper job, it's a useless time spend in order to make a lots of money.

Bungalow, they give you so much money so you can endure boredom I guess. In fact it comes to that they are paying you for producing a feeling of boredom.
I wonder how they are using that vast recource? Is it maybe a military weapon?
If you hear "marketing", run for your life!!! All of my friends who were attracted by the money left those positions very soon: high stress, telling what the company tells you and a lot of traveling where you are not asked if its your childs birthday....they just expect you to be there!
Telomerase, thinking about your previous posts: I think it was the right decision......I never really regretted mine 
you have so much more freedom in science, and this is worth to relinquish money! Money is good to have but I would never sell myself; would make me distressed, angry and frustrated I think!
