Advantages of ChIP vs. sodium bisulfite sequencing - (Nov/20/2008 )

Hello all,

I am proposing to do an epigenetic experiment. This will be my first one. I have read in the literature that many people do sodium bisulfite sequencing. However, another procedure is ChIP using 5' methyl cytsoine Ab. What the advantages of both?

Bisulfite genomic sequencing for DNA methylation mapping is much more accurate than ChIP using 5'methyl cytosine antibody, with which specificity is a big issue.

How can you be sure that the bisulfite conversion worked 100%? and why Medip/ Chip for DNA methylation is not better than bisulfite sequencing, i did not understand, would you plz describe elaborately.
