Antibodies, ascites and antisera - (Nov/18/2008 )

Could someone please tell me what it means if I have an antibody that is mouse ascites or antisera?

Is it true that you can't get a concentration if your antibody is in the mouse ascites or antisera form?

Thanks!

Ascites - when making monoclonal.
Antisera - when making polyclonal serum.

True. Mostly. If the reaction was intense, titer may be sufficiently high for your downstream applications.

If not, you have to concentrate it by

1. purifying IgG fraction, or
2. affinity purification against peptide/protein antigen.
