In vitro toxicology test by animal cell line - Looking for methods (Nov/14/2008 )

Kindly, i want to know whether is possible to determine the toxicity level of sample extract by animal cell line and generalise this data to animal i mean in in vivo system? (in vitro toxicology test)

So far I know, the only thing that after an in vitro toxicity assay can be extrapolated is that whether the compound is toxic or not. Doses are by no means extrapolable to in vivo assays and you will need to do an in vivo assay anyway. The in vitro experiments can give you at the most an advise if the deletereous dose is at the nano, micro or milimolar range.
