How to do agitation? - (Nov/13/2008 )

Dear all,

Asi'm not from English speaking nation, i cant get the idea of agitation. Actually what should i do when told to agitate your sample, like solvent in eppendorf?

To agitate means to mix.

So all you have to do is mix your sample

Agitate usually means "to shake" in the scientific context - put your sample on an orbital shaker

depending on the volume of your solvent and the size of your pellet this can be either done by shaking, vortexing or hiting the tube with your fingernails.

No! For instance, you need to agitate a bacterial liquid culture while it is growing so as to keep the bacteria in suspension and aerate the solution.

Agitate just means to shake.
