mg/l: how to write it correctly? - (Nov/12/2008 )

I must write some recipes and the journal wants the measure to be written as gl-1 .
But what if I want to write mg/l? Is it correct to use mgl-1 ?
Thank you!

I think its mg L-1; at L should be capitalised....

Ok,
it seems like the correct way (at least for this particular journal) to write it is g l-1 and mg l-1 , with a space between the grams and the liters.

Though I'd follow the journals rules (if its for a paper), have a look here.

It sets the standards, and that literally.
