Scientists have finally discovered what's wrong with the human brain - (Nov/07/2008 )
On the left side, there is nothing right, and on the right side, there is nothing left..
(sorry for a separate post, I didn't find anywhere to put this nice joke).

Aren't using both genders the sides different (e.g. females better off with language abilities, males with spatial abilities?) perhaps only popular science.
Have a look here .

That dancing girl picture is spooky. . I see it going clock-wise and in a blink it is counter clock-wise. . repeating again and again . . what the hell is that?

For me it is only clockwise, independent what I do, hope both sides work

if both works, the girl should not be moving right?

for me the girl started off spinning clock wise. (but I am right handed!). Then after a lot of blinking I got her to spin anti-clock wise. Then more blinking, I could get her spinning in either direction.
How does this illusion work? What happens in the brain when she suddenly shifts spin direction? Did one side of the brain become more active than the other? And why is this illusion harder to shift compared to the old woman/young woman illusion.

It's the opposite for me- she starts off counter and after half a min she turns and then she turns again after a while.... but my question is- did you really "get" her to spin the opposite direction, how? By consciously willing her to turn? Hmm.. try to keep your mind blank or think of other stuff totally unrelated to the nice silhouette...don't you see then that she will still turn? Or is it just my impression?

I agree with the comments on the website, the third especially. Perhaps the spin shift depends on the refresh rate of your monitor, or is just by chance? Anyway nice to watch

A bit strange. To me her turn state doesn't change if I look away, walk away from the computer for some minutes or even if I look at a small part of her picture. However if I blink fast I can occasionally see her turn state flip, and if I will myself to keep/catch this new turn state, it becomes the new semi permanent state. So I can't will myself to actually make the initial flip, but if the flip does occur I can catch it.
How about everybody else? Casandra experience indicate that the spin state appears to flip randomly.
hobglobin: Perhaps the spin shift depends on the refresh rate of your monitor, or is just by chance?
Interesting.
