decontamination of ethidium bromide - (Oct/19/2008 )

dear all
A tube containing etidium bromide stock solution was spilt on a bench. I have added sodium hypochlorite to oxidize ethidium bromide and left it overnight then cleaned it next day. is this sufficient?
