Cell surface Protein Isolation - Protein extraction procedure (Oct/16/2008 )
Hi all,
I am trying to study cell surface proteins and was wanting to do westerns. I would like to try extracting cell surface proteins without buying an expensive kit.
Has anyone tried this in the lab and can you share this information.
thanks

tyou can try to immunoisolate or biotinylate the surface proteins with ectodomains...

yeah, but that would also be expensive!
I know Qiagen has a kit that separates 4 cell fractions;...but you don't want to use kits
have a look at Sambrook's handbook, I remember reading a method there.

thanks,
I will try the Molecular cloning book first. I hope it works .....

Isolate the PM by differentiate centrifugation, then using detergent to extract proteins. Search PubMed for differentiate centrifugation
