Solubility assessment - (Oct/13/2008 )
Hi everyone,
i have to test a few compounds in vitro and the first step is to do a solubility assessment (using water or DMSO).
What it's the proper way to do it? just adding compound until I reach the maximum concentration of 5000microg/ml??
Thanks!!

if the properties of the substance is unknown, you may know the chemical class to decide if it is more hydrophilic or not; then you can take data from literature to get an idea;
if the substance is totally unknown, you have to do as suggested; warming and vigorously shaking may help; beside water and DMSO, methanol may also be checked...
