How to remove ice from door gasket of -80 freezer - (Oct/08/2008 )

yes they do, and then they mop it.

The best answer is chemistry - just like they do for roads in cold countries, spray the gasket with something that will depress the freezing temp of the ice. Ethanol or isopropanol will do this OK on a -80 as the gasket is usually much warmer than -80.

Use a hair dryer.

A wooden ruler is quite good: hard enough to get through the ice, not so hard that it can tear the seal.
