measuring apoptosis after treatment of cells with ZVAD-FMK - (Oct/15/2004 )

Hi,
I have been culturing cells with a compound that seems to increase cell death.
To see whether it might be doing this by increasing apoptosis i was going to treat cells with ZVAD-FMK after pre-incubation with my compound. Which method of apoptosis detection would be easiest and most precise to use? I don't want to use TUNEL assay as people in lab have had huge problems with it.

One way may be to run some immunocytochemical tests using antibodies directed towards active effector caspases (maybe -3 or -7).
