Dissolve siRNA in non-RNase free buffer - (Oct/06/2008 )

What will happen if I dissolve my siRNA in non-RNase free buffer. Will the siRNA degrade straight away? Or they will degrade slowly? Is it ok to dissolve in non RNase free buffer? Can I still use these siRNA?

I guess rate of degradation would depend on the degree of RNase contamination. I would also guess that if you have already resuspended your siRNA in non-RNase-free water then minimizing the amount of time the solution is at room temperature could also minimize degradation.

Of course, the real problem is how would you compare an experiment done with this "suspect" siRNA and another with siRNA in RNase-free water?
