mouse strain for monoclonal Ab - (Oct/05/2008 )

I am a student working on Mabs production. In my country, we are not able to have Balc/c, so i concern whether we can immunize another strain instead of balb/c? Because We aim to produce mabs by culturing hybridoma not ascite method ,MHC (major histocompatibility complex) is not the problem. By the way, i worry about the fusion step.My question is " Must the spleen cells from my mouse have same origin with the myeloma cells?"
