Labelling of probe - (Oct/02/2008 )
Hi,
I am currently doing some result validation for comparative proteomics by Northern Blot.
As usual, for detection, probes have to be labelled first.
I will be labelling my probew with Amersham AlkPhos Direct from GE Healthcare.
By labelling with Amersham AlkPhos Direct, I have two choice of detection system to choose from:
1) CPD-Star (for chemiluminescent detection)
2) ECF (for chemifluorescent detection)
Can anyone help me with which one is more suitable for me?
Thanks.

HI,
I have best experience with CDP-Star and would go with option 1).

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I was thinking to go for the CPD-Star too, but if I am to use the ECF, it allows me to quantitate the expression, so I am considering between this two.
I will be complementing the Northen Blot with qRT-PCR, thus quantitation may not be so essential here, but it will be good as a counter comparism with my qRT-PCR results.
So can I know more about the advantages and disadvantages of CPD-Star before making my choice?
Thanks.
