Bacterial DNA at mice genotyping place of work - (Sep/24/2008 )

Hi
Can Bacterial DNA work and mice genomic DNA for genotyping both be done at the same place using same pippetts. Will there be any specific contanmination issues.
Thanks.

I do not think it is a problem, since we do genotyping by analyzing DNA samples extracted from Saliva, which may contain DNA from lots of different species.

So long as the bacterial DNA doesn't contain the gene being genotyped in the mouse i.e. no plasmids containing the same gene, then it should be fine. If you are working with plasmids containing the gene, then do the work elsewhere, preferably in a different room.
