qiagen dna purification columns - are they all the same? (Sep/16/2008 )

hi!
i have a quigen kit for purifying DNA from agarose gels, but i am running low on the spin columns. there are several other qiagen kits here in the lab for other purposes (miniprep, rna isolation, etc) that have columns and are hardly used. i was wondering if these columns are all the same and i can use the columns from another kit with the reagents from my kit.

i do believe the DNA columns are optimised for different size fragments.

However if you are purify DNA fragments (>1kb), the miniprep DNA extraction columns would work as a substitute.
