RNA extraction - precipitation - (Sep/15/2008 )

Hi
Quick question to all out there our lab group is all having problems with RNA precipitation during an RNA extraction. We are currently using the invitrogen method and none of us are getting the RNA pellet after transferring the aqueous phase and adding isopropyl alcohol.

Could it be lab technique, contamination, etc.... Any help would be appreciated. Could something be wrong with trizol?

Hi there and welcome to Bioforum biggrin.gif
How many cells are you trying to isolate RNA from?

Hi
Um not sure we just get cells in these 6 well plates and then dose them and add trizol and then start the RNA extraction..

If you are using low cell numbers perhaps it's easier if you use a QIAGEN column to extract the RNA?
A common problem with no pellets is that you don't mix the isopropanol when you precipitate.
