Reimagining DNA - Need some help naming a weird chemical (Oct/08/2004 )
Assume all the carbons in DNA, deoxyribonucleic acid, are replaced by silicon. I don't care if it's possible or not.
What would the resulting molecule be called?

People don't usually bother to name things that can't be made, so there is little incentive to create this nomenclature. If you're just writing science fiction, though, I might suggest persilico-DNA.

If you are writing sci fi, please think of a different thing than silicon DNA. Bad science makes bad sci fi.
