rhizome DNA extraction by QIAgen kit - (Aug/31/2008 )

One of my collegues has tried several times to extract rhizome DNA by QIAgen DNesy Mini Kit but always failed. Is it impossible to extract rhizome DNA by the kit or there are some tricks in it? I plan to try the CTAB method. Does anybody here has the similar experience as me? I feel quite helpless to deal with the rhizomes.

extracting DNA from rhizomes sounds a bit complicated, lots of other things are interfering with it. if you´re using a kit then it might not be standarized for this kind of procedure. the CTAB method should provide better results. also, when using the kit make sure that the cell lysis is done quite well. good luck.
