Black SPots in MDA-MB-231 - (Aug/10/2008 )

Hi everyone,

Is anyone seen black spots in MDA-MB-231?
I used RPM1-1640 +10% FBS+1% Pen-Strep+1%SodiumPyruvate. and I spotted lots of black spots in the flask.

THe black spots are not moving vigorously and
The MDA cells are growing at a slowing rate, but doesnt not seem killed

The medium is not cloudy.

So hope anyone can tell me what it is? and what shall i do? TQ!

I got them sometimes for my primary cells - Dendritic cells. I also noticed no contamination with miccrobes or anything. My assumption was that those black spots could be some exosomes cool.gif (which DC are reported to produce and also some cells like MCF7)..

A picture would most certainly help in the diagnosis of your problem ^^

But black dots are often cell debris, and are therefore not a problem.
