About red precipitate during passing the cell line - (Jul/13/2008 )

Hi everyone,

I am facing a problem that when I subculture my cell line (cultivated in RPMI1640 (red in color) w 10%FBS and 1% P/S) I found some Red precipitate in cell pellet after tryspinized and centrifuged down. Does it indicate a contamination? What is that actually?

Usually it is part of the buffer (pH indicator dye) if you watch it under the microscope it should appear like a salt precipitate (sharp needles or similar) not as a living organism wink.gif
Hope your fine without contaminations....

Thanks for your information.

Yes after I look at them at microscope they do not look like cell but like a crystal.

However, would it affect my cell?

As I find that the status of the cell seems not very good as more dead cells were found. I don't know if it is my illusion after the precipitate is formed.
