Scientists who are also fathers - Chat? (Jul/05/2008 )
Want to share experiences? I have 2 young children, and want to start independent research, so have been writing lots of applications. Finding it very hard to enjoy my family, very impatient with them (thinking of my hours on the computer after they go to sleep). Would love to talk to others who are going through this, or have been through this.

not a clue what ur going through but admire your dedication. Just dont take out your frustrations on the fam! Here is a nice quote to help your motivation, "There will come a time when you think everything is finished. That will be the beginning."

Thanks. It is amazing!
It might be better to have some finances/bank reserve before you start a family though. It would be even more fun without that stress.
Never that!
LOL, thanks for making fun of my dilemma. Much appreciated.
Nope. I just thought you had worded the dilemma so good, I should rather plagiarize it.
After all, fathers and mothers face the same general issues, though I concede that mothers' issues are more abundant!
Anyways, can't respond to your specific topic, so started my own. For those wondering what this is all about, here is Michelle's thread

Hi cellcounter,
Do you actually have two kids?
I can't quite tell you how it is, since my first child is coming on this crazy planet on november 30. But I have some colleagues here (even PI) who just had their kids, and still tell me that it is the best thing that happened to them. So i guess it is hard, but doable.
Do you actually have two kids?
Yep, however, they are more of monsters than kids
