PMA - used to differentiate THP-1 cells - (Jun/08/2008 )
Hi,
I'm making a stock solution of PMA with RPMI media. PMA itself is light-sensitive. So that means that i have to keep my stock solution away from light and when adding it to the tissue culture flask, i need to do it fast...
May I ask for your opinion for this case

I dont think you would need to dim the room light for that.

are you sure? I never heard or read that PMA/TPA is light sensitive...

I think PMA is light sensitive. My friend is using it.
Just store it dark, i guess should be all right.

I have also recently started with THP-1 culture but they are forming clumps on subculturing do you experience the same problem
-viveks-
if you control in the sigma-aldrich catalog it says that PMA is light sensitive.

Yep... I used to experience it too... But now seldom... When subculturing, i mix the pellet well. And i also loosen the cap for incubating at 95% air 5% CO2 at 37°C.
Thanks guys, seem like i have to perform and store in the dark =D
