mj tetrad thermal cycler - (Jun/04/2008 )

Hi guys!

I'm sure someone will know the answer to this little query: we have an old mj tetrad and you can program it to have a "heated lid". Now we are inheriting a newer thermal cycler where you have the option to have the lid heated to 100 C or to the approximate temperature you have your samples at. Which is the proper setting on the newer thermal cycler in order to match a "heated lid" setting on the mj tetrad?

please keep in mind that lab dominance (and perhaps an ice cream) does depend on the answer to this question.

The MJ cyclers can be programmed to set the hot lid temperature either at 100C, or to 30C above the block temperature. So, perhaps you should have both groups get ice cream.
