Stain against fungal but not plant material - (May/27/2008 )

Hi

Could someone recommend a stain that can be used to differentiate between fungal and plant material? Ideally should be quick to use and easy to interpret biggrin.gif

Cheers

a good tip would be calcofluor white and UV-light, does not only work with yeasts....quick and easy.

Usually kongo-red or cotton blue (the classics) also work fine.

Another quick method is bleaching of plant material and ink (used for arbuscular mycorrhiza)....just try which one works best for you!

Thanks! I'll have to poke around the lab to see what's available and give it a try!
