its good to have this forum - (May/23/2008 )
Its a good idea to have a separate forum for scientific english. I am very much interested in writing activity. I want to ask people here
How they are organising their writing task.....
Its a simple question but here expert opinion can give a very good idea to imporve my horrible way for doing that.
best regards
mine too

start writing if the experiments are done and you have a story to tell
start organizing your data (if messy it can take a lot of time)
start writting the results, discussion and conclusions, then materials and methods and the introduction at the very end. at least that has been my experience
dear samita,
I think you will hear as many opinions as forum users
I usually
(i) sort my data
(ii) decide what I want to be published
(iii) do a proper literature research (usually ending up between piles of papers and a lot of End Note work and lots of new ideas, but thats another story)
(iv) condense the "state of the art" as introduction
(v + vi) write mat&meth and results
(vii) write the discussion based on my results and the information condensed in the introduction
(viii) go back an rewrite introduction (as I usually have lots of redundancies now )
(ix) let the paper rest for some days and re-read it; check if everything is clearly stated
(x) give it to my supervisor to check for clearness and mistakes
(xii) repeat (ix)
(xiii) send to all co-authors, correct mistakes, add improvements
(xiv) repeat (x)
(xv) submit and wait, wait, wait.....
(xvi) and don't forget to go for a glass of whatever you like to celebrate that the ยง$&**!! thing is off your table
