Cell Proliferation inhibition - arrest? (May/19/2008 )

Hi,

I want to know what chemicals/methods I can use to stop proliferation of my adherent cell lines. I don't want them to proliferate anymore so I can do some experiments on them.

I searched biotech companies websites, but couldn't find any product or kit.

Thanks
Curtis

you can try serum starvation method by using serum free medium for culture. Cells will survive for certain time.

ok thanks, that's what I thought actually....I am using 10% right now....can I drop the percentage to 1% immediately? or I have to adapt the cells to less serum first?

I would suggest that you employ a sequential serum weaning procedure. E.g- 10% to 5% to 2.5% to 0.
