anti-GFP for EYFP? - Can I use anti-GFP to target EYFP? (May/19/2008 )
Since EYFP is a derivative of GFP, can I use antibody targeting GFP to western blot EYFP in tissue lysate?
Or to immunoprecipitate(IP) EYFP tag using this antibody?
(I have use this antibody to immunostain EYFP. I think it's OK.)

I am not sure, but if you can find out what part of anti-GFP (truncated protein, peptide) was used as antigen for raising that antibody, and if that antigen is preserved in EYFP, I think you can use it.
Most GFP antibodies will identify YFP or CFP since they are point mutants of GFP. However, the appropriate applications for an antibody are specific to that antibody. Some antibodies work great for western but don't IP. You need to check the information sheet for the specific antibody you are using. Usually the company from which the antibody is purchased will tell you if the antibody has been tested for specific applications. Otherwise you'll just have to test it to see if it works well on western blot and IP. The fact that it worked for immunostaining is a good sign.
