Are adherent THP-1 cells macrophages? - (May/10/2008 )

Hello,
In my THP-1 cell culture I often have a considerable amount of cells attached to the surface of culture
Are all these adherent cells macrophages? When I move just the floating cells to a new flask some of them again adhere to the surface. How can I avoid this?

It's a property of the THP-1 cells that some of them will adhere. I wouldn't worry about it.
If you're using plates for your experiments you can use round-well plates, this way the cells will clump a bit, but they will not adhere to the plate.
