Specifity of antibodies - (May/07/2008 )
Hi friends,
I have a very basic question about antibodies in western blot and also immunofluorescent microscopy. Does an antibody for total ERK binds to phosphorylated ERK as well?

most likely.

antibodies are certified for successful usage in IB or IF or both; if not you have to try; if your non-phospho Erk-Ab is not directed to one of its numerous phosphorylation sites, there should be no perturbation by phosphorylation of Erk
