information for cell lines - OTHER than ATCC (Apr/22/2008 )

I need to find information of currect cell lines we have, ecpecially the original source.

Some cell we have cannot fine info in ATCC (I hope it is not some idiot change the name for his/her easy identification)
for example "Colo 357" it has been used in many paper; however, when type "colo 357" and search did not generate any result from ATCC.

What I miss here?

Does anyone know other resource that I can get cell line information.

First hit on Google: http://www.biotech.ist.unige.it/cldb/cl5052.html

You might also try looking for the original papers in which the cell line was characterized.

I have always found searching for cell lines on ATCC to be really difficult. I don't think that their search function is the best. Make sure you have the full, correct name for the cell line, or try searching for the cell type.

Other wise, I think that TheSquire's suggestion may be the way to go.

I have checked that page it is very useful for some other information I miss.

Thanks a lot for this information smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

However, an interesting thing is, the Colo 357 we have and those paper I have read seems to be a pancreatic cell line.
Colo 357 also has been used to develop several subclone L3.2, L3.3, L3.4 and L3.5 pancreatic cell line.

I am surprise that ATCC has no information or more likely I use the wrong word to search it.
Does anyone know the correct the name I should use.

NOT all cell lines are from ATCC. You can always check the European side (ECACC) or Riken Cell Bank (Japan) or DSMZ (Germany). I am sure you can find it in one of those sites. good luck
