mounting medium - for IHC (Apr/15/2008 )

Hi, all

I got a question to all who do immunohistochemistry with paraffin tissue.

I do IHC for my tissue with HRP-conj antibody and DAB development,
and I always ALWAYS use clarion from biomeda as mounting medium to put cover slide on.

but when I try to order last week, that is backordered for few MONTHS.

so I am just curious what other people are using,

So, tell me what you are using, and why (if you have specific reason).

Thanks

Hi,

I use Entellan neu from Merck. It works just fine for IHC, comes in a big bottle that lasts for years (I really mean a lot of years) and if you want to remove the coverslip by some reason, just leave ON in xylene in a heated oven and there you have your tissue back!

Thanks for the info SLAR!

but I cannot find company HP or product infromation of the product you recommend.
where can I find those??

Thanks

DPX is good, nice and clear, but need to allow to dry well before looking at your slides as it emits xylene vapour until dry.

dpx is the best - its old school but never fails - and you'll be high as a kite when your experiment fails cos of the xylene (not saying it will but... you know how it is)

Hi,

Merck doesn't have much online information, i guess you have to search for the product on their catalog. VWR must sell it, since I think Merck owns it. Entellan neu is also xylene based.
