Protein into the membrane - (Apr/05/2008 )
Protein is synthasized in the cytoplasm and then it will be go into ER for modificaltion or proper folding where it will be folded and signal sequence do this, but if the protein has to insert into the outer membrane like cytoplasmic membrane or surface receptor then how from the ER it will be bring to the outer membrane.

to process proteins to work as membrane receptors they redistribute from the RER to the Golgi appparatus, and then in vesicles to their destiny; of course, the precise mechanism is more complex; I think you may learn more from a cell biology student book
