Are they used to culture suspension cells?
Thanks!

nontreated? you mean uncoated? there are various cell lines which grow directly on plastic or glass wate without need for coating...
-The Bearer-
uncoated plates can be used for suspension cells.

Thanks!
I mean untreated polystyrene surfaces.
Now I know they can significantly reduce the attachment of most cells.

Dear Bradley,
True suspension cultures can be grown in normal TC treated plates.
It may however be more cost effective to use non TC treated plates as these are normally cheaper.
HOWEVER..... some cell lines can be grown as suspension or adherent i.e RAW/J774 ( murine macrophage cell lines)....They will grow in stirrer bottles in suspension, HOWEVER they will not grow in suspension in plates as they become adherent and are not easily removed, even by trypsin.
Kindest regards

Dear Rhombus
Thank you for your detailed reply,
Actually I want to choose some sort of plates for murine bone marrow derived dendritic cells(bmDC) culture.
Things are as follows:
Usually I set up murine bone marrow cells culture in bacterial dishes,
6 days or more later I harvest the nonadherent cells, and do some transfection assay,
after transfection I need transfer them to a new TC dish/plate, when the annoying thing happens:
Most of the transfered nonadherent cells attach to the TC dish/plate after one day's culture.
So I'm trying to find some low-attachment dishes/plates to solve this problem.
Best regards
Bradley
