animal model of gene expressed in one embryonic layer - (Mar/18/2008 )

Hi, is anybody aware whether there is any way of engineering an animal model where a particular gene is overexpressed in only one of the three embryonic layers?

If you put the gene of your interest under a germ-layer specific promoter, and make a transgenic animal, that is what you get. You need to research which promoter would give/likely to give you tight, temporal and tissue restricted expression. It should not be difficult.
