Old samples - (Mar/13/2008 )
Hi guys! Does anybody here work with old samples, I mean from 1999 to 2002?
I'll start to do real-time, using sybr, to evaluate gene expression in gastric cancer. All my samples are stored in liquid nitrogen and I don't isolate any RNA from them until now.
Any of you had this experience? Did it work?
I'm very afraid of that!
Any tips?
Thanks

Hi,
My bet is that it will work, even if it's not the ideal sample. A colleage of mine is now working with some RNA samples that were stored for the last 8 yrs in a -20C freezer... and they're fine!!
Just make sure you check for the quality of your RNA once extracted and use good HKG in your PCRs...

Thanks for help, erica. If works with your colleage, perhaps works for me too!
As soon as I get some results, I'll post again.
Best wishes
