DNA extraction - Is 2years ago extracted DNA still usable (Aug/10/2004 )
Hi,
Could somebody help me? I have DNA that have extracted two years ago from formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissues. It has been kept at 4 ¢ªC . Can I use it to methylation analysis, is DNA too fragmented and inappropriate for analysis, or should I do the extraction again? Some of the samples are quite old (years between 1986-1996).

In our lab we successfully use fungus DNA (usually in simple procedures as PCR), which was extracted even 10 years ago.
So you definitely might try
Good luck
