How to serach journals? - (Mar/06/2008 )

Hi I am doing my research at Avesthagen, Bangalore, India and working on lipid biochemistry. Can any body help me out? I want to know the process of searching journal papers online. Please help me as I am in urgent need.

First step is to look through the databases of interest:
Examples are medline (Pubmed), Biological abstracts, Web of Science, Bacteriology Abstracts, and many others; depends mostly on your interests). For most I cannot give links, because I have only access via my university library. The same I guess is true for you. Have a look on the library homepage and look if they provide access to some of the databases.
If you have it and found some papers you need, then, if the university has a subscription to the journal, you can get it often online over the link provided in the database or on the journals homepage. Otherwise: ask directly the authors for the pdf, ask the forum here, buy the paper (expensive), try interlending (if it is possible).
