to find a job - (Mar/04/2008 )

Just visited a UK website to look for a job (I like their home page, the eye-catcher there asks: "Thinking about taking a Gap Year?" My answer is always YES.)

Anyway, when looking in the section "Natural Resources and the Environment (in All Locations)" I found this job opportunity, located in the Republic of Ireland (I like Ireland really): "Graduate Opportunities" by the employer called AWE plc*
When clicking on it, this text appears:

"The fact that you’ve started reading this says something about the kind of person you are. Where other people say “I see”, you say “show me more”. Your thirst for knowledge takes you to places that other people don’t even know about. And the Atomic Weapons Establishment* could be one of them.

As the nation’s largest high-tech research, development and production facility, with sole responsibility for maintaining the UK’s nuclear deterrent, AWE is an organisation like no other.

The sheer scale and complexity of our operations offers you immense challenge and variety in your career – and the support we provide for your development is second to none. "
This is all true i think, though a bit ambiguous laugh.gif . But, yes, that's it, I think a new perspective for me, a complex, challenging job, a good salary, and a location in Ireland is what I always wanted. Good Bye Molecular Biology and critters, Hello Dr. Strangelove!

Actually I didn't know that the UK lets say 'outsourced' this to Ireland wacko.gif huh.gif . And that they employ scientists relatively independent from their education before.
(*Bold by me)

Don't know. There is one thing I overlooked in my first enthusiasm. I saw: "permanent", "full-time", "applications welcome regardless of disability" (you remember by OCD against casandra?), "sexual orientation, racial or ethnic origin, or age (also an important point for me)." But didn't saw "open only to British citizens".
My new career is over before it started. sad.gif

Due to my kind-hearted nature I almost...almost...felt sorry for you Dr. Stangelove (OCD is just the least of your "challenges") but upon fruther reflection I think that Ireland and more importantly our queen and the whole of human kind have been saved from a fate worse than an atomic annihilation had they accepted you wacko.gif
