TBE - (Feb/16/2008 )

Hello,

I'm wondering, what is the purpose of EDTA in TBE buffer? I ask because I accidentally added twice as much EDTA. I had to scale down my reaction by a factor of two because we didn't have enough tris. Now I have imperfect buffer and no Tris!!

PS. The pH of my stock (5x) is 8.3, which is what is expected for 5xTBE.

try making SB buffer... runs just like TBE but faster and uses no tris.

for 20X
8g NaOH
45g Boric acid
1l water

should be about pH 8 when made up.
